When should the wisdom teeth be removed?
This answer is different for every patient, but on average, Dr. Ji would recommend having the wisdom teeth removed around the ages of 15-18. A patient’s general dentist will keep an eye on their wisdom teeth during their regular checkups and will recommend having them removed if they are about to cause any problems.
Does getting a wisdom tooth extraction hurt?
In our oral surgery office, no! Dr. Sheng Ji is a highly-trained oral surgeon who also has a lot of experience with sedation. Between this and his use of local anesthetic, our patients are easily able to remain comfortable during a wisdom tooth extraction.
How long does it take to recover from a wisdom tooth extraction?
Normally, the recovery period for a wisdom tooth extraction is about three to four days. Most patients say that their mouth feels completely normal in about a week. Following Dr. Ji’s post-op instructions will help speed up this process and limit complications to ensure a comfortable and efficient healing process.
Does getting dental implants hurt?
No. Our patients are thoroughly numbed with local anesthetic and given sedation to ensure they have a pain-free experience while undergoing implant placement. Most patients describe feeling a little pressure during the procedure, but definitely not pain.
How long does it take to heal after getting dental implants?
The healing period for dental implants can vary widely based on a patient’s particular situation. A patient with a strong jawbone who just received one implant will probably be able to heal in a matter of weeks, while another who needed a bone graft and had multiple implants placed may require six months or longer. There are a lot of factors that can influence the healing time, and Dr. Ji can give you a better idea of what to expect when you come to see him for a consultation.
I’m really nervous about getting oral surgery. What should I do?
This is a completely normal feeling, and the best thing you can do is simply let our team know. We’ll be able to offer you a variety of sedation options that can help those lingering nerves go away. We offer different levels of sedation that can be suited to each patient to ensure they remain comfortable at all times.
